Teaching the early grades can be really fun! I loved teaching my kids to read! Here are a few tips to help you get started:
- Make sure your kids know the sounds of each letter of the alphabet. Any good reading program starts by introducing the letters and their sounds.
- The sound of the letter is more important than its name. It is important that they know that the i at the beginning of the word igloo says a short i sound. This is even more important than knowing that the letter is called “i”.
These letter i tracing worksheets will give your child the chance to practice writing the letter i. You can also use them to introduce the short i sound. If you want more help teaching the letter i sound, you can check out my Letter I Teacher’s guide and Letter I Worksheets in my Etsy store.
