Affordable Natural Personal Care Products (that really work!)

Here are some of my all time favorite natural personal care products!

Using natural personal care products can be a fun adventure. Or it can be extremely frustrating!

I have bought “natural” products that contained ingredients that weren’t very natural.

I have also bought natural products that didn’t work very well. And, sometimes I found a product I thought would work perfectly, but I couldn’t afford it.

So that you can avoid all that frustration, I thought I would give you a list of some of my go to products.

I have tried a lot of natural products and these are the ones that I really like. They are non toxic, they really work, and they are affordable!

Natural Shampoo

I have 2 different shampoos that I keep in the house. One is Acure’s Major Moisture shampoo. This is my favorite for myself. I am over 40 and I have some frizz and some gray hairs. Acure’s Major Moisture Shampoo helps my hair texture.

Acure’s shampoo is very reasonably priced. It is available on Amazon and Vitacost. (Don’t forget to go to Ebates first so that you can get cashback on your purchases.)

I also buy Beauty Without Cruelty’s Rosemary Mint and Tea Tree Shampoo. This is the one my daughters use. I also use it occasionally because I occasionally want to use a shampoo with a deeper clean rather than my regular moisturizing shampoo. This shampoo is often a good price on Vitacost, but is also available on Amazon.

natural Conditioner

My favorite conditioner is Acure’s Mega Moisture Conditioner. All of us like to use it. Both of my daughters have long hair so conditioner is important! My hair isn’t as long, but I appreciate the moisturizing properties of the Acure’s conditioner.

We have found that this conditioner works even better if we let it stay in our hair for a while and don’t rinse for too long afterwards. This makes our hair softer and less frizzy.

Non toxic Moisturizer (and Lotion and Hair Conditioner!)

My favorite all around moisturizer is Majestic Pure’s Moroccan Argan Oil. This oil is so moisturizing and has anti aging properties. But, it feels very light and not greasy. I use it all the time on my face. I do think it helps my skin to look younger.

I also use it in my hair if it is frizzy. My conditioner already helps my hair, but if I need extra help with frizz, I will use just a couple drops of argan oil in my hair. I put the drops on my hand and rub them together well so that the oil is all over my hands and not just in one area. Then I run my hands and fingers over my hair and through my hair. This helps my hair to look smooth.

Argan oil can also be used as lotion. My daughter has started using it on her legs and loves the way it makes her legs feel!

natural Lip Balm

I love my Hurraw Lip Balm and use it almost every day! It moisturizes my lips, but feels very natural. I use my vanilla one when I don’t want any color. Sometimes, I use it as a base for another lipstick.

Natural blush

Ecco Bella makes a blush that I like. It is not dirt cheap, but it is a really good price for such a clean makeup brand. The color that I bought (Coral Rose) looks really good on my skin. It is natural looking which is important in a blush!

Non Toxic Mascara

Lavera’s Deep Darkness mascara has really clean ingredients. Lavera’s makeup is also low in contaminants like heavy metals.

Lavera’s mascara works really well-it makes my lashes look much longer and defined.

I also like my Ecco Bella mascara, but it is more expensive than the Lavera. Lavera’s mascara is really affordable. You can find it on Amazon.

You can also find it on Ecco-Verde, but the shipping for those in the US is pretty high. However, Ecco Verde has low prices so you might make out better if you are ordering a lot of makeup.

Best Bamboo Brush

My favorite brush is my Bass bamboo brush. It features premium bamboo pins and a bamboo handle. I like the way it feels when I brush my hair with this brush.

I also like that it doesn’t have the little balls on the ends of the bristles. Those little balls can catch and tear your hair.

Other Cheap natural Personal Care

I have a few other personal care hacks that are truly natural and nontoxic plus they are dirt cheap.

• I like to use coconut oil to take off my eye makeup. I just put a little on my face and let it sit a bit. Then I wipe it off with a little tissue. This basically costs pennies because it only takes a tiny bit of coconut oil.
• I like to make my own handsoap from castile soap. I explain how in my post on frugal products.
• When I run out of conditioner, I use a few drops of argan oil in my hair after I get out of the shower. This way, I can wait a little longer to reorder my conditioner.
• My friend Mary has a great recipe for homemade mouthwash. It uses a few simple ingredients and is very inexpensive and easy to make.
