How to Make a Detox Salad (and Why I Eat Them Now)
I never used to eat salads. I really never thought I liked raw vegetables (or fruits). But then chronic health problems made me rethink my eating habits. I was ready to try just about anything if it would help me to feel better. I was feeling really poorly:
- I felt tired all the time, and I ran out of energy often.
- I had insomnia
- I had headaches
- I experienced episodes of feeling breathless
- I had some severe stomach bloating
- I had some pretty rough pms symptoms
- I kept gaining weight.
I realized after seeing some doctors and doing some serious research that I was going to need to detox. (I needed to help my body rid itself of toxins and poisons.)
To make a very long story short, I began to work seriously on detoxing. I did many things to detox, including eating a lot more raw vegetables than I had before! The results have been wonderful. I no longer struggle with the debilitating fatigue that I used to. I sleep much better. I lost the weight that I needed to.

Others have had even more impressive results from detoxing. Dr. Axe’s mom was able to overcome cancer with some natural therapies and prayer. One of the ways she detoxed was to juice raw vegetables. I believe in juicing also-it is a way to get in a whole lot of vegetables. For this article though, I want to teach you how to use salad as a detox method.
Here are some of the basics of making a salad that has serious detox capabilities and tastes good at the same time.

This is interesting. Many people with similar gut issues like you described do not do well with a lot of raw vegetables. For some it can make their symptoms worse as it feeds bad microbes) Glad to see this worked for you
I have also heard that some people with digestion issues can have a hard time with raw vegetables. I do well with them (although I don't eat them three times a day or anything like that!). I have also juiced vegetables, and do well with those in small to moderate amounts. But, usually it is a vegetable like lettuce-which is easy to digest for most people (low in food chemicals.)
