It can be tough to eat healthy. It can be tough to eat cheap. Put both of those together and even the most dedicated person can get frustrated! I decided that one way to make it easier for those of you who want to eat healthy and cheap was to put together meal ideas for you and have them available to print out. I am going to be doing a series of these healthy frugal meal printables.
I will also soon have a post on how to put together your own Frugal Meals binder, so that you can have a bunch of healthy frugal meals already laid out.
Healthy Frugal Meal #1
This first frugal meal is so healthy and so easy! It is chicken soup and toast. If you want to skip to the printable recipe, just scroll down. If you want to know how this soup is going to help you be healthy and save you money keep reading. 🙂
Chicken Soup Can Be Super Cheap
The soup is made of some very cheap ingredients:
- onion
- carrots
- celery stalks
- garlic cloves
- cups cooked, shredded chicken
- cup brown rice (can use super cheap and healthy jasmine rice)
- cups bone broth
The chicken broth can be almost free because it is made from a chicken carcass and vegetable scraps. Chicken broth also contains gelatin which acts as a protein sparer. This means that you can use less meat and still get the nutrition necessary for a healthy body. Using less meat can make your meal super cheap!
Homemade Chicken Soup is Soooooo Good for You 🙂
Chicken broth has superior nutrition. It has the minerals necessary for strong bones and teeth that are resistant to decay. Chicken broth also contains gelatin which can heal digestion and boost immunity.
